WRAG was formed in January 2001 by a group of back country users to make some of the old trails and roads more accessible to the general public.
In 2002 we successfully arranged materials and finance and constructed two 25metre steel truss bridges to span the Miro and Arnold streams on the old Whangamomona road.
Our present endevour is to re open up the old cream track (the Tahunaroa road)from Aotuhia to the Whanganui river at it’s confluence with the Tangarakau river –this road was the original track whereby supplies were brought in from the Whanganui river boats to settle the Aotuhia valley area in the early days.Remnants of the pier are still visible today.
